Precious PetalsThe Freeze Dry ProcessYour flowers are first pre-treated in solutions which increase durability and maintain color. They are then placed in a specimen chamber and frozen to -20 degrees Fahrenheit. Next, the air is removed from the chamber to form a vacuum and the flowers give up their water through a process called sublimation. The drying process takes about two weeks to complete and the end result is beautiful.
Northstar 3666 Freeze Drier In general, freeze dried flowers retain 85-95% of their color and same shape they are
frozen in. However, some flowers do better than others.
